Singing Words: Celebrating Poetry, Music and the Creative Spirit
Our “Singing Words” event was hugely successful. In the afternoon participants enjoyed a reading by Bar Harbor Poet Christian Barter, followed by a workshop that he conducted concerning the unanswered questions in poems. In the evening participants were treated to a presentation by WordSong, an organization who has had 4 composers set Langston Hughes’ poem “Harlem” to music which was then performed by baritone Aaron Engebreth and pianist Allison d’Amato. The brilliant renditions were interspersed with discussion amongst the composers and the audience.

Dance performance is on!
Tonight’s performance by Northeastern Ballet Theatre will proceed as planned. If it is raining, the event will take place at the ballet’s studio at 26 Glendon Street, which is across main street from Cate Park and one block up on the left. For more information please call 651-8343.
Sculptures installed despite the rain!
On Friday, June 24, the sculptures for the Sculpture in the Park exhibit were installed, despite it raining. The sculptures enhance the beautiful landscape. Look for the Blue Toothbrush, rising like a beacon, as you boat in off the lake. Check out the Chrysalis hanging from the tree as you drive past the park. In between are 5 other wonderful sculptures. Here are some pictures of the installation:
